Watauga Lake
Shook Branch Recreation Area sits at the southern shore in Carter County. The area is 20 acres and includes a grassy area for picnicking, as well as picnic tables with grills and a nice designated swimming area. The Appalachian Trail passes through the Shook Branch Recreation Area.
 
Watauga Point Recreation Area is another area on the southern shore of the lake in Carter County. This area also comes complete with a nice beach area, picnic tables and grills and a nice grassy knoll. This area costs $2.00 per day per vehicle. Fishing is also permitted here.

Sink Mountain

Concrete plank ramp and parking area. On Forest Road 298 approximately 10 miles southwest of Mountain City via TN 67 and 167.
